Andy has been involved in the Drinks industry for over 30 years.
After graduating from Paisley College of Technology with an Honours degree in Business Economics (with Marketing) in 1987, he took up his first working position as a Manager with the now closed, Augustus Barnett Wine & Spirits Merchants chain. After spending several years running busy branches in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Andy then went on to work in similar roles for Victoria Wine Merchants, and then Oddbins.
During these years, Andy studied for, and attained, qualifications from the WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) at Certificate and Advanced level. Whilst at Oddbins, he also studied for the WSET Diploma Part 1. and achieved a pass in that.
After leaving the industry for a number of years, but still retaining a very keen interest in Wine, Malt Whisky, and other beverages, Andy worked again for Oddbins initially on a part-time basis, but then going back full-time as an Assistant Manager. He was keen to update his knowledge and tasting experience from his previous time in the industry. After again leaving the industry for new challenges, Andy became an avid fan of Malt Whisky, and spent a lot of his spare time visiting Distilleries across Scotland, and also building up a collection of Malts that now totals nearly 200 bottles.
He also regularly attends Whisky Tasting evenings, as well as major Whisky Festivals. Andy recently came back into the Drinks industry, taking on a role as a Brand Ambassador for a Scottish Craft Gin distiller. This gave him the idea of pursuing a business offering various tasting events for both Individuals and Businesses
